On February 19th, Alibaba Cloud announced the official launch of its Mexico data center, which is Alibaba Cloud’s first data center in the Latin American region and marks an important step towards entering South America.

It is reported that the first batch of products launched by Alibaba Cloud Mexico Data Center cover core cloud computing capabilities such as elastic computing, cloud storage, network services, and container technology, with core product prices lower than other mainstream international cloud vendors.
Yuan Qian, Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligent International, said: “In the next five years, the utilization rate of cloud computing in Latin America will increase by 25%. Mexico, as one of the leaders of Latin America’s digital economy, has a vibrant young generation, with Internet penetration rate of more than 70%, and the number of start-ups has increased by 35% in the past five years. Alibaba Cloud will help these young innovators realize their dreams and promote Mexico’s digital economy to a higher level through advanced cloud technology and resources.”
As early as 2022, Alibaba Cloud first established a customer service center in Mexico City to provide local team support to local customers, and reached partnerships with leading companies in Latin America such as Soft180, CONTPAQI, Coonetrate, UST, Sobot, Viko, YunTek, Whale Cloud, VDE Suite, and Dexmi. It is reported that Alibaba Cloud has established a localization team in Mexico, with “over half of the employees being locals in Mexico”, to provide more market-oriented solutions.

In recent years, Alibaba Cloud has grown rapidly in the international market, with the market size increasing by more than 20 times in five years. With the launch of the Mexico data center, Alibaba Cloud’s global availability zone has increased to 87, covering 29 regions.
